“I hate my body!”

Body issues come in all shapes and sizes. Do you play the “I feel fat” broken record? Maybe your body-bashing is to the tune of “I wish I’d grow boobs!” No body is perfect, and maybe that’s why no girl is totally happy with her body.

The good news is, you’re still growing (and changing), so stop talking yourself into believing you’re some kind of deformed she-beast. “All the girls at school have boobs but me,” says Kendra, 14. “My mom got me this bra that has little gathers so it looks like I have something up there, but I feel like a total rail. And next year I’ll be a freshman!”

To illustrate that you have a choice between loving or loathing the skin you’re in, let’s turn to some famous somebodies: Gwen Stefani describes herself as chubby in high school, saying she just watched TV and ate cereal—that is, until she started performing and working out.

Voluptuous Jennifer Lopez always thought she was plump, but it was her totally Latin assets that ultimately revved up her career. And Natalie Portman has in one way or another described her small busts as flat and fabulous!

Instead of hating their bodies, these glam girl learned how to see their bods as gorgeous. To get there, do what they do: Be healthy. Duh, right?

To truly dig your unique physique, employ the tired-of-hearing-it but true combo of good eating habits, exercise, and clothes that flatter and camouflage.

Bottom line? Treat your body right, and you’re more likely to feel great about your bod. And not afraid to tell yourself so. So when you look in the full length mirror after a lean meal and a long walk, your devil’s bad-mouthing won’t stand a chance to the angel’s flattering chatter.
