Operation Beautiful

When’s the last time someone told you that you were totally beautiful and that you didn’t need to change a thing?

Meet Caitlin Boyle of Operation Beautiful. Caitlin is trying to revolutionize the way girls see themselves.

The point of Operation Beautiful to slap up positive, encouraging notes in public—totally anonymously. Because, hey, we’re all gorgeous, right?

Lotsa girls and women today can’t look in a mirror or at a magazine in the grocery store checkout without having a total body-image freak out. Cultural ideas of what the female body look like are so unrealistic and so in our faces that we can’t help wanting to be that “perfect” size zero…even though zero could almost refer to the number of women who actually look that way.

Around the world women are putting anonymous notes to themselves and girls in public restrooms, on diet snacks, on tabloids and magazines, even in bookstores and post offices. The notes have great little messages on them, like “Smile! Today is a beautiful day and you are an amazing person!” and “You are enough. You are beautiful.” They usually include the project’s website, so the movement can keep spreading.

Sometimes it’s pretty easy to forget that we ARE all beautiful, so we love that girls are fighting back with Post-It notes. Hopefully Operation Beautiful will be able to remind us that our beauty is inside and out.
