My Period Disappeared!

I’m 16 and I have only gotten my period 3 times and that was six months ago. I haven’t had my period since. Some people tell me it’s normal and some say I need help. My mom told me it’s supposed to be irregular but I just want it to come already! Is there any way to know when it’ll be here and can I make it come quicker?

Hey girl!
What’s happening with your period is totally normal, so no need to worry! Your period can be way unpredictable during the first few years after you get it for the first time. One month your flow can be super heavy and last for the whole week, the next month it could be light and only stay for a few days, and then the next month it might not even show up at all! Just like you’re trying to get used to your changing body, your period is trying to figure you out, too!
Factors like exercise, diet, stress and growth spurts can effect when, or if, you get your period every month. But just because your cycle isn’t regular doesn’t mean that you have to change any of your habits. Eventually, the space between your periods should even out, but you gotta give your body some time!
If you’re still concerned, ask your doctor during your next check-up. Don’t be scared! It’s their job to make sure that your body is working like it should, and they hear questions about periods all of the time.
Unfortunately, there really isn’t any way to know when your time of the month is coming up, and no way to speed up the process. If it makes you feel comfortable to be prepared, you can wear super-thin panty-liners in your underwear.
More girls than you’d think are going through the same thing so don’t feel like you’re not normal!
