ED BLOG: Healthy or Hidden Agenda

Working out? Sure, it’s great for your body. It gives you more energy and ensures that you’ll have a better and healthier quality of life. But what’s your REAL motivation to work out?

When I was younger, all I wanted to do was lose weight! If only I could decrease the size of my love handles, have flat abs, smaller thighs, blah, blah, blah. As I get older, I’m starting to change my ‘tude on all things fitness.

Lets face it, I could drone on for hours about what I like and what I don’t like about my body, especially the latter. It’s a never-ending cycle of negativity: Yea, my stomach is flatter than it was in high school, but now my arms are starting to flap! Sure, my skin’s clearer than it was in middle school, but now I’m freaking out about wrinkles! Constantly harping on the way I look, rather than the way I feel, only makes me stressed and depressed.

You only get one life, so why waste all your energy being down in the dumps about your body. Sometimes a girl’s just gotta step back and say, “Hey, I’m healthy and that’s all that matters.”

We’ve heard it time and time again that we all come in different shapes and sizes, and that’s what makes us special. But before you roll your eyes and mutter a sarcastic, “Yea, right!” really take the time to think about it: If everyone was a clone of each other, who would be “pretty”? It’s the unique qualities that we each have that make us stand out.

Blog it out…Are you working out to be healthy or are you working out to change your appearance?
