Rush Hour: The Traffic Jam Game

Call me a nerd, but I’m a big fan of puzzle games—from Rubik’s Cube to Sudoku. My new favorite these days? Rush Hour!

I was first introduced to the game through my friend online and was totally captivated. I was even more excited when I found that there was a board game, too, that I could take wherever I go—which has proved very useful, especially in those crazy summer traffic jams.

In Rush Hour, you simply have to get the red car out of the traffic jam and out of the six-by-six grid through the exit. But of course there’s a catch. There are different puzzle cards that instruct you to place the other vehicles of different length on the grid. They’re placed strategically so that you have to continuously move them up and down, right and left to free the red car. And what makes it even harder is that you can’t rotate any of the cars (yikes!).

What I really like about this game is how it completely grabs your attention. When you first see each puzzle it seems easy as pie. But as the level gets higher and the expected number of moves gets lower, you just can’t stop until you get that red car through!

So next time you’re stuck in traffic, why not take out Rush Hour? Who knows? Maybe when you get the red car through the traffic jam, your car will, too!

What’s one board game you can’t put down? Let us know!
