A skinny sistah's sitch

I know this may sound a little weird, but I think I'm too skinny. I've always been super self-conscious about other things like my skin tone, eyebrows and hair and I basically fixed all that, but now I think I'm too skinny. I'm confident and fun to be around. I just think I'm stick-figured. I have pretty small boobs and I'm super tall. I'm one of the tallest people in my grade, and also one of the skinniest.

When I tell my friends how much I weigh they say it's almost a lot. I think that this is because I have a lot of muscle. But when I get t-shirts and stuff they are always too loose, and when I get a smaller size you can see my belly button. I know I could eat fatty foods to get fatter but that would be unhealthy. PLEASE HELP!

Hey girl,

Yep, sometimes it's tough to love the skin you're in. Some girls wish they were skinnier, some wish they had curly hair instead of straight, and some have a whole lot that they're not comfortable with! But it's all about embracing your confidence and flaunting what you've got. You don't need to compare your body to other girls' because honestly, you're all different--and that's a great thing!

When I was younger, I was thinner than most of my friends and I worried if I'd ever grow any curves. But what you'll learn is that as you grow, you eventually start filling out your clothes better. You've just gotta get past those awk years of puberty, girlie! We've all been through it. But it sounds to me like you're healthy--muscle from exercise and a steering clear of fatty foods means you're taking care of your body. So, don't start pigging out on junk food every day to bulk up!

One thing I wish I knew when I was younger is that confidence means a lot more than you realize. If you're too worried about your appearance—skin tone, eyebrows, hair, weight...you name it!—it shows! I know it's tough just to brush those insecurities away, but try focusing on other things instead. I bet plenty of girls are jeal of your thin figure and long legs. Smile wide and flaunt what you've got! And try shopping for your body type—go for fitted jeans, a funky ruffled top, and a bold belt to play up your figure. If finding clothes that fit is a big problem, try online sites that cater to tall girls. Jeans with longer inseams are very common and there are many stores that have shirts designed especially for tall girls. Good luck, girlie!
