Kat Dennings: The short of it

Excited for the new flick Shorts? Us, too. The family action-adventure centers around notorious bully target Toe Thompson and the community of Black Falls.

During a freak storm at Black Falls, a mysterious Rainbow Rock falls from the sky, granting wishes to anyone who finds it, turning the town into complete mayhem. Told through a series of interwoven short tales, the film definitely sends the message: be careful what you wish for.
We caught up with 23-year-old Kat Dennings, who plays Toe’s sister, Stacey, and just had to share four quick facts that make her so fab:

1. She can take the heat. “[Filming Shorts] was really fun. It was really hot. We filmed in Texas in the middle of the summer so it was scorching. To sit as close to the fan as possible was the most fun activity in the universe. Every day it was like 103.”

2. She’s simple. “[If I had to make one wish] I would wish to meet David Bowie and give him a smooch.”

3. She hearts her fam. “For my dad’s job, we all had to go to Puerto Rico. I was pretty young, but will never forget it. The water there is clear and you can see the bottom. There are starfish and the shells are even amazing. I did not [go to the rainforest, though]. I’m not an explorer. If there is underbrush or insects involved or a snake situation you won’t find me. I like the trees and the sand and the clean. I really want to go back. I have never forgotten it.”

4. She’s a golden gal. “I just got a TV. I’ve had one that didn’t work that I’ve used for decoration. But I just got one that works and I discovered the world of television. I’m kind of in love with it. Golden Girls is the best show ever made. It’s incredible. My other [favorite] is My So Called Life, which was on while I was growing up. You can sort of watch it like a movie because it was only on for one season. It started Claire Danes in a big way, which was incredible.”

Be sure to catch Kat and the rest of the gang when Shorts lands in theaters tomorrow, August 21.

Are you gonna watch? Blog about it, babes.
