I just got back from a weekend camping trip with my BFF, and I’ve noticed some things about her that I never noticed before: her sarcasm and “show-offiness.” She really seems to need attention and will do anything for a laugh.

I have other friends, so should I dump this one?

When the two of you are alone, why don’t you try to ask what’s going on—maybe even mention that you’ve noticed she’s been a bit sarcastic lately? Even if you don’t have a heart-to-heart, she might be able to be more honest when you’re one-on-one because she won’t be trying to get laughs.

On the other hand, if you and she keep growing farther apart, you may want to take a fresh look at this friendship. Just because two people were once best friends does not necessarily mean they have to be bonded for life. Try to join various sports, clubs, and activities so you can keep making new friends. (With any luck, your old BFF will do the same.)
