-I Love You?

Whoa girly, this is definitely difficult for both you and your mom, and my heart goes out to you. Not having your dad around is probably taking its toll on your mom. You have to remember that she’s human, too, and she’s allowed to feel sad. But her sadness shouldn’t take over her life.

Ask your mom if she wants to talk about it. It may help both you and her to discuss the situation. You may learn a lot about your dad and it may also help your mom to finally get some things off of her chest.

But if your mother doesn’t want to talk and she still seems depressed, then you may need to talk to another trusted adult, like a school counselor. It may actually help both of you to visit one together, too. Or maybe you can call up a relative who is close to your mom who may be able to help, like your grandmother or an aunt. This is not your battle to fight. Remember girl, whatever is going on between your mom and your dad is not your problem and it is not your fault.
