Love baking? Well, Elissa Bernstein, 17, from Seattle is already an expert at it. This baking Betty created a blog, 17 and Baking, to document her awesome adventures in the kitchen. She's got the scoop on what really goes into creating a cake. Her culinary tales are amusing and totally relatable. Plus, she includes pictures of her awesome creations (we're hungry just from looking at 'em).
Elissa is paid to make cakes—just something she finds time to do between applying to colleges and interning at Seastar, a four-star restaurant. It might seem like she’s taking on a lot (and she is!) but to her, baking is almost therapeutic.
"I have a friend who loves running because it clears his mind and lets him focus, and this happens when I’m in the kitchen," Elissa says. While she's always busy trying out new creations, her go-to cake is Dorie Greenspan’s Perfect Party Cake with its luxe lemon flavor. She used the recipe to create a Cello Birthday Cake. Looks like something out of a magazine, right?

Yum!

When asked why she chose baking instead of cooking, Elissa says that she loves the preciseness of baking. She also has a hard time resisting sweets (we hear her on that one!).

Elissa had a passion and brought it to life, working hard to get her internship at Seastar, where she has had the opportunity to bake cookies for the chefs. Her blog is a way of getting her name out there and sharing her baking experiences. In between writing (which she's obviously good at!), photography and baking, Elissa said her dream job is to be a freelance writer for a newspaper, magazine or a food magazine. Her dedication and commitment will get her there in no time.

BLOG IT OUT! Do you love to bake? What are your fave recipes? What's your dream job?
