Top Holiday Flicks

It’s the holidays, but those new flicks in the theaters just aren’t going to cut it. Looking for a good movie to watch that’s show-stopping without the price tag? We hear ya!

Get that popcorn poppin’ because we have four must-see classics that will keep you—and your fam’s—holiday spirits high.

 
It’s A Wonderful Life (1946)
The pinnacle of all Christmas classics, It’s A Wonderful Life focuses on George Bailey (James Stewart), a man who has spent his life helping other people. Keeping the town from falling in the hands of scrooge Mr. Potter (Lionel Barrymore), George is devastated to find out the business he owns is at risk for closing. With trouble ahead, George contemplates ending his life. Trying to prove George wrong, Guardian angel Clarence (Henry Travers) comes in and gives him a glimpse of what life would be like if that were to happen.
 
Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
When the Santa in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade is discovered to be a hoax, Macy’s executive Doris Walker (Maureen O’Hara) is desperate to find a replacement. She asks an old man (Edmund Gwenn) to fill in, who claims to be the real Kris Kringle. As the other members of town start to notice something special about the man, Doris and her daughter Susan (Natalie Wood) remain skeptical. With the old man close to being institutionalized, young lawyer Fred Gailey (John Payne) must prove this Kris is the real deal.
White Christmas (1954)
It’s post-World War II and ex-soldiers and top performers Bob Wallace (Bing Crosby) and Phil Davis (Danny Kaye) are looking to add a little something to complete their act. Cue beautiful sisters and singer-dancers Betty (Rosemary Clooney) and Judy Haynes (Vera-Ellen). When the girls travel to a Vermont lodge to perform a holiday show, the two men follow only to find a blast from their past, Major General Thomas Waverly (Dean Jagger), is the lodge’s owner and is on the cusp of bankruptcy. Can these two entertainers help their friend and win the girls?

A Christmas Story (1983)
9-year-old Ralph “Ralphie” Parker (Peter Billingsley) only wants only one thing for Christmas: a Red Rider BB Gun. But with parents, teachers and even Santa in opposition, Ralphie’s dream is far from reality. To top it off, younger brother Randy (Ian Petrella) and the school’s bullies are a constant threat to Ralphie’s safety, causing Ralphie to fear he won’t even survive ’til Christmas! With the holiday quickly approaching, will Ralphie make it through?
