Now Playing: To Save A Life

“What if.” That’s a big question, isn’t it? In the new movie To Save A Life (in theatres today) the big question of “what if” becomes a huge deal.

The movie follows popular high-schooler Jake Taylor. Jake has all the best things:  good friends, a nice house, a slot as the school’s star basketball player, along with the school’s cutest girl. But when an old best friend from childhood, whom Jake grew apart from due to typical school politics, commits suicide, Jake’s life turns in a completely different direction. He starts questioning himself with the big “what if.”
Jake wonders what he could have done to save his friend, and what he can do now to prevent things like that from happening again. As he tries to reach out to others (the geeks, the loners—people his “popular” crew don’t accept) he puts his friends, future and reputation on the line to make changes, soon realizing he’s going to have to make some tough choices along the way.

The indie flick centers around common real-life challenges teens face today, and because of some violent content in the movie, it has a PG-13 rating.

While there is a bit of a religious feel to the flick, it encourages all teens to act like Jake, encouraging to reach out to peers in their own schools who might be silently crying for help. The movie definitely has the power to help us all change for the better and will inspire you to show people—strangers or not—how much you care.
