My Stomach Makes Noises in School

My stomach growls and is gassy. On weekends, it’s not so bad. But this happens all day at school! What can I do to stop it?

Tummies growl and intestinal tracts produce gas—our bodies are required to do these things. As for the growling, it just means your tummy muscles are contracting as they send liquids and food particles to the small intestines. Growling is good—it means everything is working properly. Sorry, no suggestions for taming the noise.

As for gas, passing it six to 20 times daily is normal. You might toot more when you drink carbonated beverages or change your diet. Fizzy drinks produce air—and what goes in must come out. Fibrous veggies (like broccoli, squash and spinach), dairy products and beans are good-for-you foods, but your body can’t break them down fully. The undigested parts wind up in the colon, where friendly bacteria gobble them up. The bacteria then produce gas, explains Dr. Robert Herman, a gastroenterologist in Manhasset, N.Y.

Perhaps some gas-inducing foods are in your typical before-school breakfast or cafeteria lunch. Figure out which foods affect you, and avoid them on school days. Worst case, you can minimize embarrassing episodes with an over-the-counter charcoal tablet such as Charco. Yes, charcoal. It’s safe and absorbs some of the smelly you-know-what. Pee-ew!

i have a major prob i dont eat fruit and barely eat veggies. i mean i can eat fruit, bu ti think they r all gross. and veggies yuck! im embarrassed to go to my friends' houses b/c i dont eat fruit! my mom tells all of her friends and its really embarassing! How can i eat fruit?
PS. why does none of my stuff show up when i right something?

I hate when that happens, In the beginning of the school year it got so bad I had to be taken to the DR. we found out some bad news. I had mal-rotation. I had to get surgery, and everything. Now things have been worse and I've been told of having an 80% chance of not making it.

Hey girl,
I feel your pain! I came across a small book on the internet that dealt with stomach noises. I bought it and was happy with it. The main thing that I took from the book was that Olive Oil is fantastic at reducing stomach sounds. Something about the fatty acids reducing the intestinal contractions. Hey girl, omg that's rough for your mom, I'm so sorry. They don't really have scorpions where I live, but I'm sure you can look into an exterminator who will come by the house and spray a scent that keeps them away. We get him for waterbugs here, but it's usually cheap and fast. xo Annemarie

i think this guy MAY like me. hes in my math class (& 3 other classes) & he always stares @ me.in LA wen he stares @ me its like a stare where he has the biggest smile on his face & cant look away. in math its a more of a look @ me now look. yesterday in math i caught him staring @ me (like i always do) & wen i caught him he started 2 look away but saw i was staring @ him so he kept staring. it was like really noticeable 2 like he turned his head away then looked back. You have a couple of options, you can either speak to the teacher on the side and explain your situation and asked to be moved. Or you can politely say to him that you have to concentrate on your work and can't chat during class.

Hey Chickie,

You have to have something for your comp that can connect to it. With macs it's usually an airport card and with pc's you can usually purchase a reciever that hooks into your comp through the usb slot. There also has to be a connection to actually pull the wi fi from, so if your at a cafe for example they have to have a wi fi hook up there for you to recieve signal.
