GL's Halloween Hitlist: Frightening Flicks

 
Gather a group of your girls, pop some popcorn, turn the lights down low and get ready to scream! We’ve put together a list of our top ten most frightening flicks for Halloween. Make sure you check with your ‘rents first, some of these picks are major scares and rated R.
 

 
1408: PG-13
1408? Nope not the year, the room number! This spooky story follows author Mike Enslin, who writes horror tales based on his investigations of haunted houses. He receives a mysterious letter to visit the Dolphin Hotel in NYC, home to the creepy “room 1408.” Check me out of that hotel, please!
 

 
Lost Boys: R
Totally lovin’ Twilight? This flick is sure to be up your alley! Lost Boys is about two young teens from Arizona who move to California to fight a gang of vampires. Too bad Edward Cullen isn’t there to swoop in and save the day!
 

 
Sweeney Todd: R
Two words: Johnny. Depp. Nope, this time he’s not Captain Jack Sparrow, he’s Sweeney Todd. Sweeney Todd is a barber who murders his wealthy customers by slitting their throats. After stealing all of their goods, he has their bodies baked into meat pies. Yum? I don’t know about you, but after this movie, I won’t be getting a haircut anytime soon, or eating pie!
 

 
Beetlejuice: PG
Don’t want to be totally shakin’ in your boots? This one is a great pick! Beetlejuice is a comedy horror film about a young couple who recently died and have returned to haunt their old house. When a new couple from the city moves in, you can guess what happens!
 

 
The Haunting (1993): PG-13
The Haunting is about an investigation of the paranormal aka things that happen with totally no explanation! The characters visit an old mansion hoping to come into contact with ghosts and are drawn in by the forces of the house! Creeeepy.
 

 
One Missed Call: PG-13
Wouldn’t it be erie to check your voice mail and find there is a message from the future you? In this terrifying tale, the characters receive voice mails from their future selves that include the date, time and details of their death!
 

 
The Grudge, PG-13
An American nurse living and working in Japan is exposed to a supernatural curse. She is overcome with a powerful rage and spreads her curse to other victims. Steer clear!
 

 
Prom Night, PG-13
Prom is supposed to be the best night of your life, right? Not for Donna! Brittany Snow plays a high school student who thought she was safe from her past. A killer who has escaped from prison is after Donna and her friends - a night of magic turns into a night of murder. So much for the perfect dress, Donna has bigger things to deal with!
 

 
When a Stranger Calls, PG-13
Off to a routine night of babysitting, Jill Johnson thought she was in for a few relaxing hours of TV time.  When she starts to get phone-calls from a strange caller asking “have you checked the children?” she starts to realize that this night is anything but routine!
 

 
The Ring: PG-13
After viewing a certain videotape, strange things seem to happen to the viewers. Nightmares, nosebleeds and more! Within a week of seeing it, the viewers simply die. Um, scary! A journalist investigates the mystery behind the tape but stumbles upon problems of her own.
