One of my BFFs really likes this guy and he likes her,
too. She wants him to ask her out, but my other friend and I think he’s totally
wrong for her. He’s not respectful of girls and we don’t want them to start
dating, but she thinks he’s wonderful. Should I let her be or should I say
something?
It’s tough when you and your buds don’t agree on
guys…especially if you’re head-over-heels for them. Sometimes you need to let
your friends make their own mistakes—sometimes that’s the only way we can learn
to make better choices in the future.
It’s only fair to your bud that you be honest with her.
Think about it: If she starts dating this dude you don’t like and finds out
that you’re not so keen on her guy, she’ll probably be pretty angry that you
didn’t tell her. Don’t interfere with her choices, but do sit down with your other bud and tell her why you
think he’s not right for her. Be ready with concrete examples, like how he
treated his last girlfriend, instead of simply saying that he’s disrespectful.
And if they do start dating? Swallow your gripes and smile,
sweetie. Maybe he’ll surprise you and be the best BF you could imagine. If he’s
not, be ready to listen and support your bestie. And can the “I told ya so!”
She so doesn’t need to hear it.
Good luck, babe!
