These girls in my school are really preppy and live in
really cool big houses and wear all new clothes. They are nice to me, but
sometimes I think they are laughing at me behind my back.
Dear Not As Fortunate,
It can be hard when other girls seem to have bigger houses
or newer clothes than you. But no matter how much you have, there is always
someone out there who has more. So rather than dwell on your comparisons and
what others have, you’re better off looking at what you do have. Do you have a
loving family? Are you rich in friends? What are your special talents? You say
you are not as fortunate, but money is not the only measurement. And I doubt
these girls are laughing at you anymore than you would laugh at a girl whose
home is smaller than yours.
