Last week, Autumn Carter of Fenton, Mo., turned 16. She
didn’t throw a blowout bash to celebrate though. Instead, the birthday girl
laced up her sneaks, grabbed her sweeties and raised money for breast cancer.
According to Patch.com,
Autumn walked in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast
Cancer Walk on Oct. 15 in honor of her grandmother, who was diagnosed with
breast cancer several years ago. Alongside her friends, she collected donations
on behalf of team Teens for TaTas.
The night before the big day, the girls had a sleepover at
Autumn’s house. Their big activity? Decorating team T-shirts for the walk.
We’re loving Autumn’s selfless birthday celebration and urge
you to follow her lead. Though October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, we
want you to pick a cause of your choice, find a walk or other fundraising
effort nearby and do your best to make a change in this world of ours.
