Sometimes when I wipe my eyebrow when I sweat, some eyebrow
hairs come off! Is this supposed to happen? Sometimes it itches, I scratch it
and then I smooth my eyebrow out, then the hairs come out! Help, why is this
happening?
Don’t freak out, babe! You aren’t defective, I promise. Hair
falls out naturally all over your body. Check out your hairbrush for
evidence—on average, women shed 100 hairs a day. Have you ever made a wish on a
stray eyelash? Yep, you lost that sucker once upon a time, too. Eyebrows (and
pubic hair, if you were wondering…) are exactly the same way.
The hair you on your bed is actually dead. The live bit is
in the follicle, and once it stops growing, it lapses into what’s called a
“resting phase.” When this phase is over, the hair fall out. So long as you’re
not losing dozens of eyebrow hairs in one scratch, you should be just fine. If
you are experiencing major hair loss,
though, you should make an appointment to see your doc. Anything from high
stress levels to hormonal imbalances can cause unusual hair loss, so it’s a
good idea to get checked out.
