What was I doing when the first day of spring rolled around?
Opening up tidy white boxes packed with gluten-free (that’s no wheat, no
barley, no malt) treats from Sally’s Bakeshop!
Now, GF goodies are a curious bunch. Often they’re crumbly
or cardboard-like, flavorless or way too sweet. But Sally’s has hit the nail on
the head with their scrumptious sweets…and trust me, I’ve tried a lot of ‘em.
The brownies were dense and fudge-y with a buttery chocolate
flavor that was solid without being too intense. The chocolate chip cookies
were just like my mom’s—crunchy and loaded with chocolate chips—though they did have a slightly earthy aftertaste.
Aside from the GF assortment, the bakeshop offers loads of
options: tea scones and cookies, cakes, macaroons, butter cookies, black and
whites, oatmeal cookies and more. And best of all, these treats are made from
all-natural ingredients, and are preservative and trans fat-free. The bakeshop
itself also takes kosher, sugar-free and gluten-free diets very seriously—a
huge plus for folks with dietary restrictions.
Check out sweetsallys.com for more deets—but be prepared to drool over their delish-looking
pics. Hmm…is it time for dessert yet?
