I was hoping to make some popular friends in school.
Finally, this cool girl became my friend, and I was really happy. Then, she got
mad at me for no reason and called me names. I want to end our so-called
friendship, but I don’t know how. If I’m too harsh, her whole group will hate
me.
Dear Frustrated:
It’s better to have a true friend than a popular
acquaintance. But, rather than dump the girl and have an enemy, you’re better
off being less obvious about your change of heart. Sit with other girls at
lunch, and make after-school plans with others. If she confronts you, say, “Of
course, I have other friends, and so do you.”
