Cool off this Cinco de Mayo with a beverage that’s super
popular in Mexico as well as Central America and the Caribbean. Agua fresca (or
water refreshments) is a traditional sip that’s typically made with fruits
found locally. Now that watermelon has hit farmer’s markets and grocery stores,
we can’t wait to try this riff on a classic recipe.
Ingredients:
1 cup finely cut watermelon
7 cups coarsely chopped watermelon
6 cups watermelon juice
1/2 cup sugar
1 large lime, juiced
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a large serving pitcher and stir
to mix well. Garnish with watermelon wedges and mint and serve over ice in
tumblers, mason jars or margarita glasses for a festive effect.
