I’m only 12, so my mom thinks the idea of me
working out is silly. I know I’m not fat or anything, but I do want to look good in my swimsuit this
summer. Whenever I mention weight, my mom freaks out and says I shouldn’t be
worrying about things like that at my age. I don’t want to make her mad, but is
there anything I can do?
Your mom’s right, babe. As
long as you’re healthy, you shouldn’t be worrying about having a killer bod.
That being said, it’s hard to avoid judging ourselves, especially when we’re
baring so much skin come summertime.
The best way to look good
and to feel great all year round is to lead an active lifestyle. For some
sweeties, that means playing a sport or two or three. For others, it means
going to dance class. For others, it means riding their bike everywhere or
playing with friends in the park or busting a move thanks to Just Dance 3.
Don’t think about it in
terms of working out or having a flat tummy. Use your body to it’s fullest
potential—exercising, competing and having a blast with your buds—and take
pride in the way it looks and what it’s able to do for you.
Wanna know one more
secret? When it’s time to shimmy into that swimsuit and step out in the sand,
no one’s gonna be looking at your tummy. They’ll be noticing your gorgeous
smile as you race your sweeties to the surf, or your confident posture as you
stake out a spot for your towel. Own the way you look and rock it, girl. And
always, always be proud of Y-O-U.
