A few months ago, my
underarm perspiration majorly increased. I used to never sweat, but now, it's
happening every day. I have to always put my hands on my hips, because if they
are glued to my sides, like they usually are, I sweat! My mom has done
everything to help me out, buying me fancy soaps and antiperspirants, but nothing
works. Please help!
Dr. Dee Anna Glaser says, “It sounds like you have
hyperhidrosis, which affects about 3 percent of the population. When the
underarms are affected, it usually starts around age 14 to 16. It has
nothing to do with soaps, bathing or cleaning habits. We think it runs in
families.
“You can try a clinical strength antiperspirant, which
should be applied at night before you go to bed. You can reapply it in
the morning for extra results. If this doesn't give you relief, it is
time to see a dermatologist for prescription medications.”
