Your dad loves to spend time with you, but
TV and sitting down for a chat during supper can get boring after a while.
Switch it up with some physical fun! That way, you can get active and have an
awesome hangout sesh with your pops! Check out our 5 ideas for fun days this Father’s
Day and all summer long:
Ball
game
Grab a ball—football, soccer ball, baseball—and
toss it around. Ask Dad to show ya how to ace some signature moves. He’ll feel
great about teaching you a skill he learned when he was your age…and sharing
some sports stories along the way.
Buddy
up
Try to get another friend to come over with
her dad to play a little two-on-two soccer! It is way fun, and you burn a lot
of calories. You can mark the goals with two sweatshirts or socks if you don’t
own one. Play to five, and make sure to wear shin guards- you’re better safe
than sorry!
Go
on tour
Grab a basketball and play around the
world. That way, dad’s height won’t give him an unfair advantage. All you need
is a hoop, a good attitude, and a basketball. Try to make a basket from six
different places around the court (or your driveway). If you want to play
classically, go in a semicircle around the hoop starting on the left.
On
your marks…
Have your dad make up an obstacle course
for you around the yard. Use the porch, the car, the playground, the stairs,
everything. Obstacle courses are challenging and great cardio. Don’t worry about
looking gross afterwards—that’s the only way you know you’re doing it right!
Make him go through it first so that you can see how it’s done, or race each
other. Get your sibs in on the fun to turn it into a true-blue competition.
Go
for a spin
Walk (or ride) around the park. If you
don’t have a local park, you can just cruise around the neighborhood. It’s a
great way to work in some QT with dear ol’ dad. A quiet walk during sunrise or
sunset is relaxing and will definitely give your mood a boost.
