I
haven't gotten my period yet, and I'm afraid I'll get it for the first
time at soccer practice or school or somewhere. Help me!
Dear Worried,
Every woman in the world made it through
her first time, and you can be sure that you will, too. Your anxiety is
natural, so why not carry a sanitary pad in a zippered pocket in your
backpack or gym bag? That way, if it starts, you'll be prepared. If it
happens at practice, confide in an older teammate or coach. If it
happens at school, ask your teacher or nurse for advice (or to get
necessary supplies). Either way, you'll manage just fine, and you can
congratulate yourself for becoming a young woman.
