Marc
Jacobs’ Spring/ Summer 2013 collection was without a doubt one of the most
anticipated shows at New York Fashion Week, and it didn’t disappoint. Marc’s
vision this time around was of a modern-day Edie Sedgwick—simplified ‘60s
basics, black and white stripes and swingy shapes. It was all very minimal, but
don’t ignore the details: a ruffled hem here, sparkling sequins there, and a
sweet scalloped frill also made an appearance or two. The standout piece of the
collection was definitely the long-sleeved sequin-striped pantsuit, a shimmery
sheath that had just enough movement as it floated down the runway. It’s a
modest piece, yet oh-so major.
