11-year-old Lyssa’s life was perfectly magical…it was as sweet
as the sunflowers at her back door or her mother’s strawberry jam.
Until one day it all came crashing down around her. Lyssa
wakes up and her life has changed forever: She’s ripped from her home in Texas
and her mother, once a super-talented performer, is gone—and so is all the
magic.
Lyssa’s stepdad is super sweet, but he’s no replacement for
Lyssa’s mother. In an attempt to help them start over again—totally fresh—he
whisks Lyssa away to Washington state where she struggles to adjust to an
ordinary life. School is a drag, it’s waaay too hard to make friends and,
seriously, what’s up with the gloomy weather? Lyssa’s desperate for
change…something, anything!
That change finally comes when a peculiar plane soars
straight into Lyssa’s life. But it bears more bad news. Lyssa’s childhood home
is scheduled to be demolished—along with all the amazing memories of her
once-perfect family.
And with that, Lyssa is off! With no time to lose, she
journeys hundreds of miles on just two wheels—her trusty scooter Zip. As she
heads to Texas to fight for what seems like the only thing she cares
about—what’s left of her home—Lyssa makes some funny friends (like rowdy
cowgirls and a chorus line of singing mermaids). With her new-found friends by
her side and the winds of change at her back, Lyssa uncovers her mother’s magic
little by little while learning to accept change along the way.
Zip, zap and zoom with Lyssa as she races against the clock!
