Nearly
fifty million people worldwide have epilepsy, a neurological disorder that
causes seizures, and so does Emery Land. But instead of just experiencing
seizures, Emery has what she calls loops—moments when she travels through time.
Her only problem: nobody believes her.
Emery
is stuck in the hospital while her Dad and a team of doctors study her as her
seizures become worse. But Emery is noticing something else too, she used to
feel completely Zen in her loops, and now they’ve become kinda scary.
Deciding
she no longer wants to spend her life as a “lab rat,” Emery decides to travel
to Esperanza, a town she visits in some of her loops and where she meets Asher
Clarke. Ash has dedicated his life to helping others because of his dark past,
but Emery can’t help but feel like they’re connected. Trying to stay away from
her father, Emery must try to understand her connection with Ash and her loops.
Flutter by Gina Linko is
both a science fiction and romance novel that gets you thinking from the very
beginning. Linko beautifully flips between Emery’s loops and real life, helping
you piece together connections between her and Ash. But, wait. You still won’t
believe the ending.
