every girl should practice, so grab a
pen and take notes!
From maintaining good habits to knowing the social graces of ladylike behavior (think Kate Middleton), there is no denying that a lot goes into keepin’ it classy. How you behave and the way you act speaks volumes about who you are. If you want to be ladylike, you’ve gotta show impeccable manners and create habits that will stick with you for life—starting now. We’ve compiled 5 ladylike habits that
like a lady
This might sound old-fashioned, but
it's totally true. When you’re out in public at an event or on a date, cross
your legs or ankles (try tucking one foot behind the other and slant your legs
to the side). Sit up straight—no slouching—and maintain a good posture. No need
to look stiff like you’ve got a ruler taped to your back—just sit up tall in
your chair. This habit will help you
come off graceful, polished and confident.
As soon as you sit down at a table to
eat, place your napkin on your lap. If you need to use the restroom during the
meal, be sure to excuse yourself in between courses and leave your napkin on
your chair. You don't want your date, friends or family members to see your dirty
napkin on the table with their food. When everyone has finished eating their meal,
you can leave your napkin to the left side of your plate as you get up to leave.
Feeling extra hungry or rushed at
dinner? Whatever you do, don’t scarf your food down. Slow down and take your
time chewing, tasting and actually enjoying the food you’re eating. Take a sip
of water between swallows and talk with the people around you to help you slow
down. Sometimes we don’t realize it, but we eat so quickly that we lose track
of all of our manners. Always remember to chew with your mouth closed, and if
someone asks you a question, swallow and take a small sip of water before you
and “thank you” go a long way
Most of you already know this, but we can
all forget the golden rule of manners: using “please” and “thank you” on a
regular basis. Always remember “please” when you’re requesting something and a
warm “thank you” when someone has done something for you, even if you’re
talking to your little bro. Your friends
and family will love the extra recognition and will make an effort to step up
their manners with you!
