Green is no longer just a color—it’s a lifestyle! Whether you’re setting up recycling bins in the classroom or simply shortening your shower time, the little changes we make now can have a huge impact on our future.
So, in an effort to continue our green habits, we’re partnering with the book Girls Gone Green to bring you Project Go Green!
Project Go Green is a photo and essay contest, so it's your chance to get creative. One green girl wins an awesome getaway to Amelia Island!
Girls Gone Green contains inspirational stories from teen girls just like you who have stepped up and taken the initiative, and in doing so, they have helped make a change. We especially love the story about Erin Schrode, a 17-year-old who collaborated with
Teens Turning Green in developing a new skin care line.

The top ten most inspiringly green stories will be featured on Girlslife.com. YOU will then have the chance to vote on your favorite go green story. Vote on the top ten April 15th through April 21st!
The writer of the story that receives the most votes will win the grand prize–the ultimate green getaway: a trip for four to Amelia Island Plantation off the coast of Florida. This amazing 4-day/3-night getaway will include activities for every green-loving girl, from nature tours on Segways to kayaking through the beautiful island waters. It’s a go green paradise! Open to residents of the fifty United States and the District of Columbia, excluding Rhode Island, ages 10-18, who have a valid email address and Internet access at the time they are eligible to enter.
Entries must be received no later than April 9, 2010 11:59 PM Eastern Time. Ten finalists will be selected by a qualified panel of judges based on how well their essay and photo answer the question: “How are you going green and making a positive impact on the environment?” Final winner selection will be based on the number of votes received and will take place on or about April 22, 2010.
