Get party-ready with 3 hot new hair styles

Here at GLHQ, it’s birthday season. Over half of our office members have fall birthdays, which means one thing—parties! You know we’ll take any excuse to get dolled up, and we’ve been searching high and low for fab new hairstyles to rock (buh-bye, boring bun) and of course, to share with you! Luckily, celebrity hairstylist Ashley Hanna of NYC’s mizu salon is spilling her fave red-carpet hair hints.
Sel’s loose updo

Ashley loves this style on girls with natural texture, curls or waves. Begin by applying a bit of dry texturing spray to give the hair a little hold, she says. Pull all the hair up into a very loose French twist and secure with bobby pins (making sure they match your tresses!) Use fingers to loosen hair around the face and add a bit more texutrizing spray, Ashley tells us.

Beyonce’s bouncy side pony

Get B’s gorge look by blowing out your hair with blow drying crème applied to your roots, Ashley shares. Once dry, begin wrapping 2-inch sections of hair around a large-barrel curling iron to get that beautiful soft wave. Spray superfine hairspray on each section to lock in the curls. Then, part hair on one side and smooth into a pony. Finish with a light mist of anti-humidity and shine spray.

Kourtney’s glam waves

With wet hair, create a side part, then use a tiny bit of serum to smooth over hair, working from the crown of your head down to about ear level. Using a flat brush and blow dryer, smooth hair until desired look is achieved.
Then, using a 1 in. curling iron, begin curling hair, changing the direction of each curl you curl to get a loose, relaxed look, says Ashley. Spray texturing spray from below the ear all the way to the ends before curling each section. After all your hair is curled, use a wide-tooth comb (fingers work well, too!) and lightly brush through curls while misting an anti-frizz spray. Spritz on a light mist of hairspray and head out the door!
