How To: Keep your skin from looking like a zombie's after Halloween

Watch out, or your skin could look even scarier after Halloween. We’ve got 4 fab precautions to take to get your skin back to normal after the spooky night is over.

1. Read the labels
Please, please, make sure you’re using makeup that is labeled “non-comodogenic” (as in, won’t clog your pores) and “oil-free.” This is also key for girlies with sensitive skin--you don’t want to irritate anything or risk a bad reaction. Halloween is scary enough as it is!

2. Ditch last year’s makeup
It’s not the best idea to recycle the red lipstick from last year’s Dracula costume. Make sure your face paint is fresh—no more than six months old. Same goes with body paint. There’s no guarantee that products will keep for more than 3-6 months, so don’t risk turning Frankenstein-green overnight. Eek!

3. Don’t turn into a pumpkin!
Don’t skip the wash-off portion after your trick-or-treat run. Use makeup remover wipes to gently rub away the evidence, and then follow your normal skincare routine.

4. Sharing can be scary
We’re warning you—don’t share makeup! We get that sharing your goods is Girl Code Rule #43, but in this case, we’re making an exception. Makeup and body paint when shared can spread infections, bacteria and skin oils between you and your buds. Ick. Make sure to keep the beauty products to yourself—no horror stories tonight.
