How-to: Snag Ariel Winter's sweet smokey eye makeup look

Homecoming is just around the corner, and you’ve gotta be thinking about your look for the big night. But unlike your brand-new, awesome looking dress, the way you wear your makeup isn’t going to jump off the rack and claim you for its own. So to help you come up with your look, we took some inspiration from Ariel Winter’s makeup at the Emmys. It was one of our favorite looks because it was soft and focused on the eyes, and it looked incredible with her sequin dress. Snag our how-to, below!

Step 1: Prep your skin with an oil-free moisturizer to ensure a smooth canvas.

Step 2: Use a liquid foundation to give yourself a glowing look and even skin tone. Smooth on with your fingers, being sure to blend down your neck.

Try: Revlon PhotoReady Makeup, $9, ulta.com

Step 3: Contour your cheeks using an angled blush brush and a neutral beige-colored blush that’s one shade darker than your skin tone. Apply the blush by making a fish face then stroking the brush underneath your cheekbones. Then use a small circular motion to lightly blend it in.

And e.l.f. Studio compact blush/bronzer, $3, target.com

Step 4: Smudge slate grey eyeliner around your lash line on your upper and lower lids to give them that soft, smokey look. Use a Qtip to smudge it out.
We love: Maybelline Defining Liner in Slate grey, $3, amazon.com

Step 5: Create shimmery eyes. Remember to use the medium toned shadow on your lid, the lightest shade on your brow bone, and the darkest color on your outer corner. Pretty neutrals let your gray liner shine through.
Try: NYX Eye Shadow Trio, $7, nordstrom.com

Step 6: Finally, add a pale baby pink lipgloss to finish your look with a touch of flirtiness. Kiss kiss!
We heart: e.l.f. Luscious Liquid lip color in Baby Lips, $2, drugstore.com
