3 fall beauty trends to try this weekend (as seen on makeup muse Katy Perry)

It’s not easy to be a cosmetics chameleon—you know, the girl who can rock a bevy of bold beauty trends and still look like, well, herself. But with a little inspo from the ever-lovely (and always inspirational) Katy Perry, we’re making it a cinch with three super fun and fresh fall beauty dares.

Look 1: Get matchy with your makeup

There are mixed opinions on matchy-matchy makeup (or outfits, for that matter…) but this we promise: Coordinated colors are a key trend for fall. Whether you’re matching your strands to your shadow like Katy or matching your red dress to your red nails to your red lipstick, this trend is guaranteed to get you noticed—meaning it pairs perfectly with a special occasion (think fall fling or a special soiree).

Rock it: Fearless femme Katy rocks a blue streak with an allover wash of aqua hair color coordinated to her azure eyeshadow. Not ready to go so bold? Use brightly colored hair chalk to get a few streaks or ombre tips, then pick a pretty shadow to match. And the trick to making your peepers pop amidst those crazy colors? An awesome mascara that amps up your naturally gorgeous eyes. Swipe on a few coats of COVERGIRL’s new Flamed Out Mascara in Very Black Blaze—make sure to concentrate on the outer lashes for extra accent.

Look 2: Think pink for ultra prettiness

For Katy’s fiercely feminine look, just think pink. Whether you’re hitting the books at school, apple-picking on an autumn date or hanging with family on the weekend, a light and luminous beauty vibe is always fun and fresh.

Rock it: Go for the glow with an illuminizing tinted moisturizer blended all over your face plus a few dabs of creamy pink blush rubbed into the apples of your cheeks. Finish with a swipe of COVERGIRL’s new Lipslicks Smoochies Lip Balm in C U L8R. Perf!

Look 3: Trick out your tips

For nail art that roars, try Katy’s blinged-out monotone mani. A little glitzy (but not gaudy), this rockstar style is super simple to master—even if you’re a newbie to nail design. Iced-out microphone optional!

Rock it: Snag a bottle of COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Brilliant Glosstinis (we heart Pink Lady), then hit up the craft store for a pack of stick-on rhinestones in a matching hue.  Slick on two coats of the polish (you don't even need a topcoat!) and let dry completely. Then press the gems onto your nails in an evenly spaced-out pattern. So easy!
