10 steps to rehab for repeat nail biters

Looking to kick your nail biting habit? Follow these steps to bite that bad habit goodbye.

1. Visualize it.

Think of how good your nails will look once you stop biting. Believe and achieve!

2. Pinpoint it.

Realize what urges you to bite (maybe stress at school or drama with a friend) and find a way to control it. Be confident and know you can fix this!

3. Lotion up.

When your hands look and feel nice, it’ll be much harder to justify biting them.

4. Snip it.

Cut your nails super short. The less nail there is to chew, the less you CAN chew.

5. Paint ‘em.

Layer on the lacquer so when you’re about to bite you can look down and have an instant reminder.

6. Stay busy.

Take the time to learn a new skill. Try knitting, crocheting, writing, drawing or painting. Let your creative juices flow.

7. Nosh it.

Keep your mouth moving. Try chewing gum or experiment with other healthy, yummy treats.

8. Keep at it.

Don’t beat yourself up if you get back to biting, just try again! Just because you messed up once doesn’t mean you’re doomed forever. Stay focused.

9. Treat yourself.

Reward yourself for a job well done. Treat yourself to a nice mani-pedi in a fun color and be prepared to flaunt your beautiful tips.

10. Stay positive.

It’s hard to stop a bad habit, but with the right attitude you will be successful. Just try not to stress and keep a positive mindset.
