Read this if you slept in your makeup last night

Happy 2017, babes! Last night was pretty perfect, wasn't it?! Sparkling cider was consumed, confetti was thrown and plenty of sweets were eaten. And after an amazing night of dancing with our besties (and not to mention that intense sugar crash...), there's no way we could be bothered to wash off our makeup before hitting the pillow.

If your night was anything like ours and you've spent New Year's Day lounging around with your skin feelin' not so great, follow these steps for a luxurious revive.

Opt for Micellar

Now that you've accepted the fact that you did, in fact, fall asleep with all of your makeup on, you'll need to start your cleanse by removing it. Saturate a cotton pad with Micellar water—water that contains refreshing and cleansing oil molecules—and press the pad on your eye for a few seconds. (This Garnier Micellar Water is our fave!) Rub gently if necessary to remove stubborn eye makeup. Repeat for other eye, and saturate a third pad and swipe over entire face to sweep away lingering concealer, bronzer or foundation.

Cleanse, cleanse, cleanse

After all of your makeup is gone, give your face a good wash with a mild cleanser. You'll want something that's easy on the skin but removes any dirt or impurities that are still hanging around, like the Kiehl's cleanser above.

Mask it

Once the scrub-a-dub-dubbing is done, a revitalizing mask is the way to go. This acai one from The Body Shop works wonders (but any brightening or energizing mask will do). Smooth over skin evenly and leave on for 10 minutes. When removing, rub into skin to exfoliate, then rinse.

Try toner

Toner is magical. Even if your skin is perfectly clear and not prone to breakouts (you are what we refer to as #blessed), it's still a great product to use. It evens out the appearance of your skin and makes pores appear smaller—and after snoozing in your makeup, your skin will definitely need both of those things. To use, saturate a cotton pad and smooth over your entire face. (Psssst! This Neutrogena choice is a great place for toner newbies to start.)

Finish with moisturizer

Set yourself up for a day of soft and supple skin by moisturizing. Use upward and outward strokes to apply a dollop of product to your face (the above from Burt's Bees is fab!). This will replace any moisture that was sucked out of your skin overnight.
