4 ways to lighten your hair...no dye needed

Want to become a blonde beach babe but don’t want to drop cash at a salon? No problem, here are four ways to naturally lighten your hair without the hassle (or harm) of at-home dyes.

1. Lemon Juice
Ah, a classic. All you need are a couple of lemons, an old spray bottle, and some water. Cut your lemons in half, and using a juicer or your hands, squeeze out all the juice into a container. Next, add an equal amount of water to your lemon juice container, so it's one part juice, one part water. Pour the diluted lemon juice into your spray bottle and shake.

Thoroughly spritz your mixture throughout your hair and lay out in the sun for at least 30 minutes. If you don’t want to lighten your whole head, just spray the solution to certain strands. Lemon juice can really dry out your hair, so it’s important to moisturize after you get out of the sun.

2. Chamomile
Who knew your fave tea could do just as much as your stylist? Brew a pot using 4 to 6 chamomile tea bags, and allow the to cool. Over the sink or in the shower, fully saturate your hair. If you don’t want to lighten your whole head, just apply the tea to the sections you want to be lighter. Afterwards, let your hair dry in the sun for at least 30 minutes. After your hair is dry, be sure to take a shower and use conditioner.

P.S. Although it’s not required, some people add lemon juice to their solution too.

3. Honey and Olive Oil
Oh, honey, you’ll be looking blonde as can be after this home remedy! Measure out a quarter cup of honey and a quarter cup of olive oil into a bowl and stir. Apply the mixture to your hair. If you only want to lighten certain sections, use a paintbrush or your hands to coat those specific strands. If you want to lighten your whole head, work the mixture thoroughly all over. Let the product sit in your hair for 30-60 minutes. Afterwards, wash your hair super well to remove any excess oil.

4. Cinnamon and Conditioner
Super simple and totally effective, this cinnamon hair treatment will *spice* up your look. Heads up, though: This is recommended for only lightening the ends or the middle of your hair, since a lot of people’s skin is sensitive to cinnamon, and you don’t want to irritate your scalp. All you have to do is combine ground cinnamon and conditioner until you are left with a paste-like substance. Use a paintbrush or a pastry brush to coat the desired sections of your hair. Afterwards, cover each section of your hair with aluminum foil, put a shower cap on and let the cinnamon sit for about 3-4 hours. Once your time is up, wash your hair and let it dry to see your results.

With any of these four methods, you will not instantly go from brunette to blonde, but your hair will get lighter the more times you use these at-home remedies. So try one of these methods and see if blondes really do have more fun.
