How to take care of your skin during a heat wave

Right now, across the country, states are experiencing a heat wave with temperatures soaring into the high 90s (and even over 100 degrees in some places!). And while the coronavirus numbers are still surging, wearing a mask is still extremely important when you are outside, it can be difficult to find a way to keep your skin from going crazy. Read on for some of our tips to surviving the heat with glowing skin.

Protect your skin

We really can't say it enough, SPF, SPF, SPF! Protecting your skin from all types of the sun's rays is the most important way to help your skin now and for the future. This Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen $34 is great because it protects your skin all day without the usual greasy feeling.

Chill out

One of our favorite tips is to take your favorite face masks and put them in the fridge. Not only will the cool temp help you feel better and more refreshed, the extra chill helps with any puffiness you might be experiencing. We love the Swimming Under the Eye gels from Florence by Mills $34.

Moisturize

While your skin can feel sweaty and oily whenever you go outside, stepping into a room with the AC blasting can lead your skin to becoming extra dry.  Try the GLOW RECIPE Banana Soufflé moisture cream to both calm and hydrate your skin $39.

Deep clean

During the summer it can be easier for our pores to get clogged and irritated with sweat, makeup and oil, so grab a cleanser that will get rid of all the impurities, while still replenishing and moisturizing skin. We can't get enough of this aloe-based cleanser from Naturopathica $38.

Keep it light

If you want to wear makeup in the heat, do your best to keep it light.  Using a tinted gel cream instead of foundation is a great way to lighten up while still getting great coverage. We love this option from BAREMINERALS $33
