Your guide to tinted moisturizer, foundation's more natural sister

If you're anything like me and love when your makeup to provides *just* enough coverage while still looking as natural as possible, then say hello to tinted moisturizer (AKA, your new BFF). A lighter alternative to foundation, tinted moisturizer is, as its name implies, a moisturizer with a light pigment that helps cover up any redness and unevenness in your skin tone.

Although tinted moisturizer is usually a bit sheer, its goal is to moisturize the skin while giving a you a base that looks and feels as natural as possible, providing subtle coverage that still makes an impact. Just to compare, foundation provides more overall coverage and is typically a little heavier on the skin.

If you don't like the feeling of wearing tons of makeup, tinted moisturizer is a great option as its a lightweight product, and leaves your skin looking clean, dewy and natural — trust me, a little tint can make a big difference! And bonus, some tinted moisturizers also include SPF, making them the perfect two-in-one product for when you want that extra boost of sun protection (as we always like to say, you can never have too much SPF).

To apply tinted moisturizer, dab the product onto your face and blend using your fingers, a beauty sponge or a brush, depending on how much coverage you want. Once you're done blending out your base layer, feel free to use concealer on any areas where you want a bit more coverage.
