BEAUTY 101: Bid Blackheads Buh-Bye!

Changing temps can sure spark some not so friendly, er, friends? to pop up. That’s why GL’s bringin’ ya five quick ‘n’ easy must-dos to keep your face free from pesky blackheads. Just a wash, treat and moisturize away to beautiful healthy skin!

START WITH A GREAT BASE
Not only does caked-on makeup look less-than-gorgeous, it can wreak havoc on your skin. If your pores are crazy-clogged, try swapping your foundation for an oil-free formula. Or, opt for air-light mineral makeup. Whatever ya do, go easy on the application.

KEEP YOUR MITTS OFF
Repeat after us, I will not squeeze, poke or pop this pore. Seriously, don’t attempt to extract the blackhead. You’ll make the sitch worse by driving all that junk (dead skin, sebum) deeper into your skin.

AVOID HARSH SCRUBS
Exfoliators and wash clothes make seems like the right weapons to battle blocked pores. Truth is, they’ll irritate your sensitive skin and may even lead to more oil production. Throw in the towel and stick to a smooth wash, ok?

PICK THE RIGHT PRODUCT
If you just have a couple of blackheads, try a spot treatment in addition to a gentle cleanser.
If the prob is bigger, seek out a wash with salicylic acid. Wash in the a.m. and before ya hit the sack.

DON’T BE FEAR MOISTURE
Just ‘cause you’re trying to treat a breakout, doesn’t mean you have to have super-tight, dry skin. Use a gentle moisturizer to keep your face from flakin’ out.
