4 style secrets for pear-shaped girls

We’re on a mission to make sure every girl knows how to dress for her body type. Now, we’re dishing the fashion facts every pear-shaped chica needs to know. If you’re rockin’ a bod that’s smaller on the top and larger on the bottom (like a triangle), listen up, 'cause we’re spilling style secrets just for you.

The trick is to create the illusion of balance – since your top half is tinier, pick an attention-grabbing shirt that’ll draw the eyes up. We dig daring colors and prints for extra style sizzle. Leave it loose or choose a top with a cinched waist – just perf with jeans or a skirt.

Pear-shaped girls are known to have wider hips, a bigger booty and larger legs – so it totally makes sense that you’re a difference size in jeans than for shirts. Try to find denim that’s made with a little more room in the back, or your waistband will head south. A dark wash bootcut jean is always flattering, and can be dressed up or down with a blouse and a pair of heels.

There are some fabulous figure-flattering frocks for pears – the idea is to find a dress with a busy top and a darker, simpler bottom. Grab a belt to cinch your waist and create a hot hourglass shape – instant curves.

Pick a pair of pretty pumps to add some pizzazz to any blah ensemble. Avoid shoes with ankle straps, which will cut off your legs and make 'em seem shorter. A nude color elongates your limbs and is totally versatile. Stumbling in stilettos? Wedges are a wonderful way to add some instant height—and still stay stable.
