Look cute now! 3 ways to nail the ladylike trend

Hi again, GL readers! It's Sloane from Sailing the Sea of Style. For my second post on how to wear the biggest spring trends, I’m gonna show you a fave of mine: ladylike. People often have the misconception that dressing ladylike means frumpy and old lady. Instead, I’ll show you how you can take the trend in a flirty direction with sweet details and bold hues.

SCHOOL:

For day, it's important to keep the look simple but sweet. A lacy collar top is easy and only a tad dressier than your go-to white tee. Add bold printed jeans. I like a lighter wash for spring, and the little bit of distressing means things aren’t too presh. Complete your outfit with blush flats and a bow bracelet.

Blush D’Orsay Pointed Flats, $21 lulus.com

Sparkly Bow Bangle (similar to shown), $22, shop-charmed.com

NIGHT OUT:

Nail the party girl look with a mashup of bright shades and femme fabrics. Pick a pretty peach lacy number and pair with metallic heels. A nude frame clutch is classic. Add an arm party of blingy bangles (the bow one is my fave) for the finishing touch.

Vince Camuto Hinged Bangle, $33, nordstrom.com

Day Time Clutch Bag, $50, zara.com

Michael Antonio LoveMe Metallic Rose Gold Pumps, $30, 6pm.com

WEEKEND:

Here’s a good question: Why don't you wear a dress this weekend? A drop waist frock with a lacy collar is causal enough for everyday but still looks a little special. Add ankle strap flats, glitzy earrings for a touch of sparkle and a mint frame handbag. Gorge!

Ya Los Angeles Peterpan Dropwaist Dress, $54, piperlime.com

Gorjana Pristine Circle Stud Earrings, $45, shopbop.com

ASOS Smart Front Strap Bag, $59, asos.com

ASOS Lift Off Suede Ballet Flats, $59, asos.com

My top five tips for looking ladylike-lovely:

1. Your look doesn’t have to veer old lady. Keep things cute and fun with sparkly details.

2. Don’t shy away from color! Bring out the brights.

3. Keep jewelry simple and sweet. Bows, tiny hearts and shiny studs are perfect.

4. Lace always works.

5. Have fun with your makeup. Try a cat-eye or a rosy blush or a pink pout. Up to you!
