Fashion Must-haves for 2010

Get ready to shop, girl! Right now, the prices on winter threads are slashed and the prettiest pieces of spring are sprouting up everywhere.
Here are our tips on what to buy the next time ya hit the mall.

New year, new bag. Chain purses are still a fave. Get one in a timeless color (like steely gray) so you can sport it all spring and next fall. Seek out sleek details, like a kiss-lock closure and teensy studs.

Caged Cahira Purse, $26, lulus.com

Holiday soirees might be over but, alas, winter’s not. Scour the stores for funky jewelry that’ll work while the weather’s still chilly. Necklaces with shiny gems or fuzzy beads look fresh over a t-shirt. Finish it with a blazer, and your party-perf pieces get lots more wear.

Pouf-Pouf Necklace, $15, anthropologie.com

Don’t save florals for spring. Snap up a flowery dress and wear it right this instant. Tights, over-the-knee socks and a long cardi make it winter-ready. Once the weather warms, rock it with a multi-strand necklace and simple ballet flats.

Floral Cocktail Dress, $28, forever21.com

Now’s the time to buy dirt-cheap denim. Whether you like faded flares or skinny zips (like me!) ya can’t go wrong with a pair of new baby blues.

Our fave shoes for next season? Huge wooden platform sandals. If you buy ‘em now, you can get the final pairs from last summer before they’re totally sold out. Heels for under $20 is a trend we can get used to!
Studded Strappy Platforms, $15, charlotterusse.com

Cherry earrings are so cheery. Look for splashy accessories to liven up every outfit. Not into fruit? We also like flower studs, coral and turquoise beaded necklaces and lots of homemade string bracelets. They’re all super-inexpensive and add just the right amount of color to brighten your day!
