This study shows that using Instagram is actually *awful* for you

We all *love* taking the perfect photo, editing it, posting it on Insta and watching the likes rack up, but, as it turns out, doing all of that is not so great for your mental health.

A report from Royal Society for Public Health in the UK called #StatusOfMind showed that social media is linked with increased rates of anxiety, depression and poor sleep. Instagram, in particular, is the worst of the five platforms the survey researched: Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube.

According to CNN, the author of the report, Matt Keracher, says, "Instagram draws young women to 'compare themselves against unrealistic, largely curated, filtered and Photoshopped versions of reality.'"

Yikes—that's not so great, considering Instagram is such a widely- and frequently-used platform. It makes you think: Do I spend too much time on Instagram? Is Instagram affecting *my* mental health? Should I use it less frequently? It's not a bad idea to stop and think about these questions every now and again and make some changes if necessary.

How much time do you spend on Instagram each day? Let us know in the comments.
