50+ stores already confirmed they won't be open on Thanksgiving

Holiday shopping seems to start earlier and earlier each year. While some people *love* Black Friday deals and are eager to start shopping—sometimes even on Thanksgiving—others believe it's important for retail workers to be able to spend time with their families on the holiday.

In recent years, many of the best deals have started on Thanksgiving instead of Black Friday, causing some people to ditch family time at home in favor of doorbusters. This year, more than 75 popular stores are expected to be closed on Thanksgiving, and more than 50 already confirmed that they won't be open, according to BestBlackFriday.com, as well as other outlets such as Fortune and USA Today.

Some of the stores that won't be open are H&M, IKEA, Party City, Sam's Club and TJ Maxx.

Now, with more deals available online, less people feel pressured to go to stores on Thanksgiving. Instead, they're shopping online or going to the stores on Black Friday.

Though stores closing on Thanksgiving allows employees to enjoy the holiday and not have to work, many stores also lose money when they choose to close on Thanksgiving. Many stores also let people choose whether or not they work on the holiday and pay employees extra to work at that time.

Here's the current list of stores that will be closed on Thanksgiving this year:
