Nia Sioux's "FLXXN" is the posi weekend jam you need

We heart everything about Dance Moms star Nia Sioux. From her graphic tee line with Popular Poison to her inspirational #MondayMotivation posts, she's never not killing it—especially with her *new* song "FLXXN".

The message behind the song? "FLXXN" is all about never giving up—aka the perfect inspo as the new school year starts. Nia told us about the writing and recording process and gave us a sneak peak of the music video releasing Wednesday, Sept. 5. Read on for all the deets!

Girls' Life: Tell us the story behind this amazing track.
Nia Sioux: This song is literally a year in the making. We started in October. I was going though a lot of friendship and relationships changes, that kind of stuff. A lot of people were doubting me, asking what I was going to do next. "FLXXN" is about knowing your worth and not letting anything or anyone get in your way. It's being confident, having strength and being resilient.

GL: It took you a year to write the song. What did the process look like?
NS: At first, I wrote the song and recorded it with my producer. Then we listened to it back and decided it needed to be even better. So we rewrote the beginning and added a feature. After I was like: "Oh my gosh! I'm even more in love with this song."

GL: We're are so pumped for the video's release on Wednesday. Can you tell us a little about it?
NS: So we're at a boxing gym, which we use as a metaphor. People will punch you down, but you have to get back up to fight back. You can't back down. You can't give up.

In general, it's a really fun video. Very, very high tempo. Lots of energy. It's really just fun to listen to and fun to watch.

GL: What do you hope fans can take away from the track?
NS: I hope that people can take away what the song means to me. I hope it inspires fans to have hope and give them that confidence.
