GL CUTIE: Ryan Pinkston

ryanpinkston.jpgWe had an exclusive invite to the premiere of Ryan Pinkston’s Full of It. No lie!

Cameras were flashing. VIP guests were dressed to the nines. Movie executives were there. And so were Ryan Pinkston and all his friends. GL was invited for the opening and after-party for New Line’s new feature film Full of It, starring Ryan as lyin’ high-school student Sam Leonard.

Sam hates his life, so he makes one up. The catch is, every lie he lays out there comes true. He tells kids at his new school that his dad is a rock star. Poof! He comes home from school, and his dad is leaving to do a comeback tour with Poison. He claims to drive a Porsche…a sweet red one appears in his driveway. He says he never misses a shot on the basketball court—next things ya know, he’s slam-dunking his home team to victory. Without even trying.

But what Sam finds out in the end is, basically, to be careful what you wish for. And, boy, did we find out some truths about Ryan at this elaborate event. Test your own Ryan Pinkston-telligence by taking GL’s true-or-false quiz:

True or False? Ryan is a Hollywood snob.

False! He could have held his movie premiere in Los Angeles, like most celebs do. But he instead opened his film at the AMC Theater 14 in Columbia, Md., near his hometown, so all his old-school friends could attend. Also, we couldn’t help notice at the reception afterward that Ryan actually stood in line for a cola at his own party.

True or False? Ryan has an alter-ego.

True. Nicole Anderson, who switched places with him on ABC Family’s Switched. She’s a champion water polo player, and Ryan—here’s another little-known fact—is a three-time world champion second-degree blackbelt in tae kwon do karate (he did many of his own stunts in Spy Kids 3-D). Nicole was at the premiere. So was Ryan’s karate crew. Oh, and speaking of… Nicole now does crew, as in rowing, for the University of Texas.

True or False? Ryan is an only child.

False. Ryan has an older brother Aaron, who is super hot. He was filming a lot of video at the event, and the buzz is that he and Ryan live near each other in L.A.

True or False? Ryan’s been Punk’d.

False. But Ryan has been on Punk’d. He played character roles on the show to help pull hidden-camera pranks on celebrities. He counts Ashton Kutcher as one of his very nearest and dearest buds.

True or False? Ryan has a girlfriend.

False. Well, kinda. He has an on-again/off-again GF. They met when he lived in Maryland, but the long-distance thing has been hard so they’ve put the relationship on hold. But she was at the premiere to support him, and he seemed affectionate toward her. Her name is Sarah. She’s very pretty. They’re cute together.

True or False? Ryan was on Cribs.

True. But it was when he was still living at his parents’ house in Silver Spring, Md. GL was in that house once when we interviewed him for a Cutie feature (Aug/Sept ’03). He told us at the premiere that it’s one of his favorite articles. He says he has it framed.

True or False? Ryan doesn’t shave.

False! He looks completely bare- and baby-faced onscreen, but at the event, he had a very distinct McDreamy-like five o’clock shadow (that’s beard stubble, for those of you who aren’t in-the-know). He’s 19 now, so it’s to be expected.

True or False? Ryan’s mother is an avant garde artist.

False. She’s a regular mom, and she’s really nice. GL met her at the house the day we interviewed Ryan. She planned the whole Full of It premiere and party, and she wore an “I SAM” T-shirt to celebrate Ryan’s starring role. We’re pretty sure she’s his biggest fan.

So how'd you score? Did you score an A or are you not-so-in-the know? You wouldn't lie to us, would ya? Are you a big fan of Ryan, just like his mama? Tell us now!
