Embarrassing moments with Taylor Swift

Blonde curls that put Shirley Temple’s to shame. A voice that sends chills through your body. What is it that has made the world fall in love with Taylor Swift?

After personally being invited to meet Taylor after one of her concerts, I quickly understood what it was about this chica that took her from regular high school teen to female country star of the year. While her voice is great, her lyrics poetic and her past boyfriends far from terrible to look at (Jacob Black…need I say more?), what truly sets Taylor apart is the southern charm that immediately makes you feel like you’re her best friend.

“Hey, girl. Come on in!” These are the first words Taylor said to me as I anxiously walked up the stairs to her tour bus. My friends were in shock after coming in eye contact with Taylor while I nervously began talking. I will give you a heads up: Whenever I get really nervous, I begin saying and doing odd things that should never be said or done—especially in front of a celeb. Exhibit A: When I met Ryan Cabrera, I told him that he was a lot shorter than I had expected. Exhibit B: When I was younger, I ran to Michael Phelps’ house (we were neighbors) and threw a hand-written letter in front of his door (still waiting for that reply). And when I met Taylor Swift, I, Elizabeth P., began touching her luscious locks, stroking them as if I were a hairdresser shampooing a client. “You hair is so…perfect! Is it a wig?!” I inquired. Let me say that again, I asked Taylor, “Is it a WIG?!”

Fortunately, Taylor, being the sweet gal she is, began laughing and politely answered, saying her hair was real and perhaps a bit gross after the concert. LOL.
Phew, I thought. She thinks I’m funny rather than nuts! After about a half an hour of discussing favorite songs, artists and movies, Taylor snapped a few photos with us.

As we said our goodbyes, I remembered that my best friend, Bailey, was the biggest Taylor Swift fan in the world. I told Taylor this and, in a few brief seconds, she found a marker, a piece of paper and wrote “I <3 Bailey.” I took a picture on my cell and immediately hit send to Bailey. You can imagine her reaction!

It was that very moment I realized what makes Taylor so unique: The time she dedicates to all of her fans.

And as Tay gears up for another world tour (which she just announced the other day), perhaps I’ll get to reunite with my country-singing bestie once again. Though this time, I’ll try to be a little less embarrassing.

What would you say to Taylor if you were invited on her tour bus? Blog about it, babes.
