Kelli Berglund spills the secret to getting over "new girl" status
In the latest episode, Kelli plays new girl in town Sloane, a martial arts extraordinaire looking for a new dojo in Seaford. But things take a turn when Kim (Olivia Holt) encourages Sloane to pursue her passion for singing instead. The two even pair up for a shot at the mic with “Had Me @ Hello”—ya know, Olivia’s song from her flick Girl Vs. Monster.
As many of us can relate, facing the super scary task of
being the new girl can be hard, whether it’s at school, in town or in a club.
We caught up with Kelli and got her exclusive insider info on life as the new
girl and how it can be totally awesome!
Why exactly is it so awesome? "Being the new girl gives you the chance to create a new history for yourself with new people and experiences,” Kelli points out. “Embrace the unknown, and don't be afraid of it!"
Still worried about fitting in? She’s got one tip anyone can try: “Getting involved in fun clubs and activities is a great way to make friends. You'll be able to bond with people who have common interests, and if you open up and be yourself, you're bound to gain a couple of close friends."
Don't let a new place intimidate you this school year. As Kelli shows us, the status can actually be fun.
Be sure to check out Kelli’s shot at being a new girl on Kickin’ It this Monday night on Disney Channel. Then stick around because her regular show Lab Rats (where she plays Bree) continues with an all-new episode right after at 9 p.m.
