Exclusive: Jordan JAE premieres her new music video "Hopping Fences"

If you haven't heard Jordan JAE's covers on YouTube, you're seriously missing out. The 15-year-old has an incredibly powerful voice and, after hearing her tackle big songs like "Say Something" and "Stay With Me," it's clear JAE is ready to make a name for herself in the music scene. She's already got her original songs "Said No One Ever" and "Makin' Me Crazy," but her new single "Hopping Fences" is her strongest yet.

In her new music video, premiering exclusively here on GL, JAE sings about escaping the pressures and expectations of others and facing life head on. Drawing arrows around the city, the singer sets a path for other girls to follow her and join her rebellion.

We also got the chance to chat with JAE about her music and her inspiration for "Hopping Fences."

"As teens we often feel misunderstood and frustrated by the inability of our parents to understand us," she shared. "There are times when we just blindly stumble through life not truly understanding what’s expected of us. We’re constantly told that we are either too young to understand or that we need to grow up and learn to deal. As a result we can feel fenced in and unsure of ourselves. I know I do. This song is about jumping over that fence, secure in ourselves and ready to take on life and everything it has to throw at us."

She cites both Ed Sheeran and Ellie Goulding as role models, admiring their songwriting talents and sound. "Ed Sheeran's lyrics are beautiful and genuine, and Ellie Goulding has inspired me to head more toward an Indie Pop direction with my music. She has such a fabulous sound that really gets my creative juices flowing."
